Giving Back: Supporting Three Greek Cultural Charities
At the heart of my work lies a simple but powerful belief — that tradition isn’t something to be preserved behind glass, but something to be lived, shared and reimagined.
Every pattern, every color, every motif I draw from Greek folk art carries within it a story that still wants to be told. But stories like these survive only when they continue to be heard, sung, danced and passed on.
That’s why, through my silk scarves, I’ve chosen to support three non-profit organizations that embody this same vision — each in their own unique way. Together, we form a small part of a larger movement: one that honors Greece’s cultural roots while helping them grow into the future.
Below, I’d love to introduce you to three organizations whose work deeply inspires me: Avlés, Branding Heritage, and the Hellenic Performing Arts Foundation. Each one keeps Greek tradition alive — not as something nostalgic, but as something alive, creative and evolving.
Avlés — Where Movement, Music, and Story Become One
(supported through every Attica Gardens scarf)
Avlés is the creative collaboration of two remarkable women, Erini and Aristoula, whose work celebrates Greek traditions through the performing arts. Their projects use movement, sound and storytelling to bring people together — echoing the spirit of community that lies at the heart of folk culture.
What draws me to Avlés is how they remind us that in Greek tradition, art forms are inseparable: there is no folk art without music, no music without song and no song without dance. They keep that circle unbroken, showing that tradition is not something frozen in time, but something constantly reborn through creative dialogue and collaboration.
By supporting Avlés, we help sustain that living connection — ensuring that folk expression continues to evolve, inspire and unite us. Every Attica Gardens scarf purchased contributes to their work in keeping Greek folk culture vibrant and alive.
Branding Heritage — Where Ancient Roots Inspire Modern Creation
(supported through every Cretan Mermaid scarf)
Branding Heritage is a cultural organization that celebrates the powerful relationship between Greece’s rich heritage and contemporary creativity. Their work shines a light on how ancient crafts, symbols and stories continue to inspire today’s artists, designers, and makers across disciplines — from fashion and art to gastronomy and music.
What I love about their approach is that it goes beyond simple preservation. Branding Heritage believes that tradition becomes even more meaningful when it’s allowed to evolve — when it sparks new ideas, collaborations and ways of expressing Greek identity in the modern world.
That belief mirrors my own creative process. In my work, I reimagine folk motifs through a contemporary lens, giving them new life while staying true to their spirit — much like Branding Heritage empowers creators to do. Each Cretan Mermaid scarf sold supports their mission to keep Greece’s cultural knowledge visible, relevant and celebrated on a global stage.
Hellenic Performing Arts Foundation — Bridging Distance Through Dance
(supported through every Mesogeia Blooms scarf)
The Hellenic Performing Arts Foundation (HPAF) is a non-profit dedicated to researching and promoting Greek folk music and dance around the world. Their mission is to make Greek folk traditions accessible to everyone — connecting scholars, teachers, and dance enthusiasts through authentic materials, workshops and events.
Their work resonates with me on a deeply personal level. Before moving to the U.S., I was a Greek dance teacher in London and I remember how hard it was to find reliable resources and recordings for my classes. HPAF is bridging exactly that gap — helping dancers, musicians and researchers across the diaspora reconnect with their cultural roots.
One of their upcoming projects, Ethos 2026, is an international conference dedicated to Greek folk dance and music, and I’m beyond excited to see it come to life. With every Mesogeia Blooms scarf purchased, you directly support their mission to keep these traditions alive and accessible for generations to come.
A Thread That Connects Us All
Each of these organizations — in their own way — weaves the threads of Greek culture into the present moment. They remind us that heritage is not a static inheritance but a living, breathing force that grows when we nurture it.
By choosing one of these scarves, you’re not just embracing a piece of art — you’re helping sustain a shared story. You’re becoming part of something bigger: a collective effort to honor our roots, celebrate creativity and keep the language of Greek folk tradition alive for the future.
